2 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2 To Timothy, [my] beloved child: Grace, mercy, [and] peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 I have gratitude to God, whom I serve from the forefathers with a pure conscience, as I have unceasing remembrance of you in my prayers night and day,

4 longing to see you, recalling your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,

5 having taken remembrance of the unfeigned faith in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that [it is] in you also.

6 Because of this reason, I remind you to rekindle the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and soundness of mind.

8 Therefore you should not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, His prisoner; but suffer together for the gospel according to the power of God,

9 the One having saved us and having called [us] with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace, having been given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

10 and now having been made manifest through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, having indeed abolished death and having brought to light life and immortality through the gospel,

11 to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher.

12 Because of this reason I also suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit entrusted for that day.

13 Hold the pattern of sound words, which you heard from me, in the faith and love that [are] in Christ Jesus.

14 Guard the good deposit entrusted by the Holy Spirit, the One dwelling in us.

15 You know this, that all those in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

16 May the Lord give mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he refreshed me often, and he was not ashamed of my chain.

17 But being in Rome, he earnestly sought me and found [me].

18 May the Lord give to him to find mercy from the Lord in that day! And you know very well how much he served in Ephesus.
