Psalm 50

A Psalm of Asaph. 1 God of gods, YHWH, speaks and calls the earth, from the rising of the sun to the going down.

From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Our God comes and will not be silent; before His face a fire devours, and all around Him it will storm exceedingly.

He calls to the heavens from above, and to the earth, for the judging of His people:

“Gather to Me My holy ones, those having cut a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”

And let the heavens declare His righteousness—for God Himself is Judge. Selah

“Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I [am] God, your God.

[It is] not over your sacrifices [that] I rebuke you, or your burnt offerings before me continually.

I will not take a bull from your house [or] male goats from your folds.

For every living [thing] of the forest [is] unto Me, [and] the cattle on a thousand hills.

I know every bird of the mountains, and the wild beast of the field [is] unto Me.

If I were hungry, I would not say [it] to you, for the world and its fullness [is] to Me.

Do I eat the flesh of bulls, and do I drink the blood of goats?

Make a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God, and fulfill to the Most High your vows.

And call on Me in the day of distress, [and] I will rescue you, and you will glorify Me.”

And to the wicked God says, “What to you [is] to recount My statutes, and to lift up My covenant upon your mouth?

And you have hated instruction, and cast My words behind you!

If you see a thief, then you are pleased with him, and your portion [is] with those committing adultery.

With your mouth you send forth evil, and your tongue weaves deceit.

You sit against your brother and speak; against the son of your mother you place fault.

These [things] you have done, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. I will rebuke you and set in array before your eyes.

Understand this, please, [you] forgetting God, lest I tear [you] in pieces, and there is no one to deliver!

The one making a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me, and he [who] sets [his] path, I will make to look on the salvation of God.”
